RUMOR: Donald Glover will return as Lando Calrissian in a future Disney+ series

By Josh Reilly B.

In the Star Wars galaxy, there are always new stories to tell, even with characters that have been around for over 40 years. This is no different for Lando Calrissian, who was reintroduced in Solo: A Star Wars Story, this time played by Donald Glover. Given the way in which Solo set up future adventures for the characters, fans have long been expecting some continuation of the prequel film. Today, Kessel Run Transmissions, who accurately broke the news of an upcoming animated show centered on the Bad Batch, reported that Glover will reprising his role as Lando in an upcoming Disney+ show.

Donald Glover’s Lando Calrissian was the highlight of Solo for many fans, so bringing him back would make a lot of sense. Moreover, Lucasfilm may feel drawn to bringing Calrissian back into the fold given Glover’s fame as a rapper and writer, which would bring a lot of positive publicity to Disney+. As Glover is a prolific writer, it’s also possible that he could have creative involvement in a future appearance, especially if he’s given center stage in his own show.

A Lando centered show could be a way to conclude the other plot threads introduced in Solo, such as Han and Qi’ra’s complicated relationship. It’s possible that Maul and his criminal empire, Crimson Dawn, are used as the looming threat throughout the series as well, something that could wrap up that particular part of his arc and show how he ended up as a seemingly tired old man on Malachor at the beginning of Star Wars Rebels. Solo provided the platform for many possible new stories in a galaxy far, far away, and a Lando show seems like the logical next step for the post-Solo section of the Star Wars universe.
