Overshadowed somewhat by the gargantuan announcements of Marvel Studios, DC also had a presence at this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Opting not to showcase footage of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Flash and Batgirl, nor announce any new projects, the spotlight was firmly on Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Black Adam.

Warner Bros.’ San Diego Comic Con panel featured the first footage of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, the sequel to the 2019 DC film Shazam! Zachary Levi returns in the starring role, while Helen Mirren joins the cast as the film’s villain.

Dwayne Johnson sure knows how to make an entrance, and San Diego Comic Con 2022 was no exception. Johnson appeared on stage in Hall H in glorious fashion, sporting his incredible Black Adam costume. To an ecstatic crowd, Johnson proclaimed, “Hall H, you have been warned. The DC universe will never be the same again.”
Later, Johnson (now without his Black Adam outfit) was joined by director Jaume Collet-Serra and the cast of Black Adam.
Ahead of its October 2022 release, new footage of Black Adam was shown, which announces the return of Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller.
