The Insidious series has been one of the most understated horror franchises over recent years, making the upcoming fifth installment certainly something to look forward to. Here’s what we know about the next Insidious film.
Insidious 5 is simply known as Insidious 5 now, as the official title has yet to be announced. Insidious 5 will see Patrick Wilson, who played Josh Lambert in Insidious and Insidious: Chapter 2, step into the director’s chair for the very first time.

Wilson returns with original franchise stars Ty Simpkins and Rose Byrne in a plot that is set after Insidious: Chapter 2. This means Insidious 5 will round out the linear story told with the first two films, as Insidious: Chapter 3 and Insidious: The Last Key served as prequels.
Insidious 5 picks up 10 years after Insidious: Chapter 2, once again following the Lambert family. The official plot description is as follows: “Insidious 5 will pick up with the Lamberts ten years after the last movie, as Dalton begins college. Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) heads east to drop his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) off at an idyllic, ivy-covered university. However, Dalton’s college dream becomes a nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both.”

Insidious 5 comes from a script by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) wrote the script based on a story by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell (The Invisible Man, Saw).
Insidious 5 is produced by Blumhouse Productions and will be distributed by Sony Pictures. The latest Lambert family nightmare hit theaters July 7, 2023.
