What’s New in Star Wars – September 2022

After a month-long delay, the highly anticipated Andor debuts this month with a three-episode premiere. The Cassian Andor prequel series on Disney+ is accompanied by a host of books, comics, and more from a galaxy far, far away. Below includes a list and description of upcoming Star Wars projects in the month of September. It is important to note all of these release dates are subject to change.

September 6 – Visions: T0-B1

This new Little Golden Book adapts the Star Wars: Visions short film T0-B1.

September 6 – Star Wars: The Mandalorian: Grogu and Mando

Dreamtivity is here for young Star Wars fans with a new coloring and activity book.

September 6 – The Art of Star Wars: Visions

This new book showcases stunning concept art from the Star Wars: Visions series.

September 6 – Star Wars Flip Pop: Boba Fett and Flip Pop: Darth Vader

Insight Editions will release new interactive storybooks focusing on Boba Fett and Darth Vader this month.

September 7 – Star Wars (2020) 27

Charles Soule’s mainline Star Wars series for Marvel Comics continues this month. The publisher’s summary for the upcoming 27th issue is as follows: “”The Good People”! The Empire’s greatest secret is in the hands of two Crimson Dawn double agents, who are racing to deliver it to the Rebel Alliance to buy themselves safe haven. But the Empire knows what they have stolen, and the entire Imperial Navy is in hot pursuit!”

September 8 – Obi-Wan Kenobi: A Jedi’s Return

A new behind the scenes documentary highlighting the making of Obi-Wan Kenobi debuts on Disney+ on Disney+ Day.

September 9-11 – D23 Expo

The Ultimate Disney Fan Event kicks off on September 9, and the Lucasfilm presentation takes place on the morning of September 10. Stay tuned to The HoloFiles for live updates of the event!

September 13 – Star Wars: The Life Day Pop-Up Book and Advent Calendar

Celebrate Life Day in true Wookiee fashion with this holiday pop-up book and advent calendar from Insight Editions!

September 14 – Bounty Hunters 27

Ethan Sacks’ exciting Bounty Hunters comic unfolds with its 27th issue this month. The publisher’s summary is as follows: “A deadly mission on the edge of a black hole! Desperate for credits, T’onga and the bounty hunters take a dangerous job for the Pykes. But is Tasu Leech ready to take on…the Kanjiklub? Valance makes a decision that will change everything…”

September 14 – Obi-Wan 5

Christopher Cantwell has crafted an excellent Obi-Wan comic series so far, with the fifth issue debuting this month. The publisher’s summary is as follows: “Obi-Wan has closed his journals for now and looks ahead as night falls and the sandstorm that has sequestered him begins to clear. But he discovers something unexpected in the hazards of the Jundland Wastes…a squad of ambushed stormtroopers left to die. But one still has a fighting chance…and Obi-Wan may very well risk everything to save a single injured imperial stormtrooper that can’t help but remind Kenobi of the clones he served with so long ago.”

September 14 – The Bounty Hunter Wars

Barnes & Noble will release this collection of Star Wars Legends books about bounty hunters.

September 14 – Tales of Kenobi

Barnes & Noble will also release a collection of Star Wars Legends books about Obi-Wan Kenobi.

September 21 – Darth Vader (2020) 27

Greg Pak continues to follow Darth Vader between the events of Episodes V and VI in his comic series. The publisher’s summary for the upcoming 27th issue is as follows: “The alliance between Darth Vader and Sabé has always seemed destined for disaster. After all, how long can the Dark Lord of the Sith and the idealistic handmaiden of Padmé Amidala find common ground? So as Vader and Sabé enter the final battle against a corrupt Imperial governor, something’s going to break. Will it be Vader’s cold resolve or Sabé’s true heart? And how long until Ochi of Bestoon finally makes his move?”

September 21 – Hyperspace Stories 2

Dark Horse Comics’ return to the Star Wars galaxy continues this month. The publisher’s summary for the second issue is as follows: “A new era of Star Wars comics begins here! After the destruction of the Death Star, the Rebel Alliance searches desperately for a safe haven to escape from the iron grip of the Galactic Empire. Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa investigate a mountainous world that could prove useful as a new base, only to discover all is not as it seems. On the run from imperial stormtroopers, Luke and Leia must make a perilous trip across an unforgiving landscape if they are to escape capture, or worse, at the hands of the Empire. Luke and Leia versus the Empire!”

September 21 – Andor Season 1, Episodes 1-3

Cassian Andor is back! The highly anticipated Rogue One prequel series debuts this month with a whopping three-episode premiere. Check out some of our early coverage of Andor below.

September 21 – The Mandalorian 3

Relive the early adventures of Mando and Grogu in this comic adaptation by Rodney Barnes.

September 27 – Star Wars Insider: The High Republic: Starlight Stories

Titan Magazines will release this collection of High Republic short stories this month.

September 27 – Star Wars: Obi-Wan, Jedi Master

2022 truly is the year of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Dreamtivity will release a new children’s book about the character this month.

September 28 – Doctor Aphra (2020) 24

If you’re not reading Alyssa Wong’s Aphra series, you’re missing out. The publisher’s summary for the upcoming 24th issue is as follows: “”DESCENT” Desperate to rescue DOCTOR APHRA at any cost, SANA STARROS and her CREW’S search leads them to an OLD HAUNT…and two FAMILIAR FACES they might not survive! September 28 – Han Solo & Chewbacca 6

Dive deeper into the origins of Han Solo in the sixth issue of this new comic series. The publisher’s summary is as follows: “”CHEWBACCA BEHIND BARS!” Chewie is held captive on the prison planet of Gulhadar! And you’ll never believe who his cellmate is. None other than Maz Kanata! And whatever happened to the Millennium Falcon?”

September 28 – Andor Season 1, Episode 4
