Following yesterday’s red carpet launch event, initial reactions to the first four episodes of Andor have released and tease a mature, slow-paced installment of Star Wars storytelling.
Check out some of the initial reaction to Andor below, including The HoloFiles and Star Wars Holocron’s views on the first four episodes.
#Andor is the most mature Star Wars to date (feels akin to an HBO drama). Grounded story w/ intimate stakes & serious tone that shows a new side of the Empire. Overcomes a slowish start in first 2 eps. Stellan Skarsgård is fantastic & Diego Luna is somehow even better than in RO pic.twitter.com/9y1jWf7DSJ

There are many “firsts” we’ve never seen or heard in that galaxy far, far away, yet #Andor is quintessential Star Wars. It’s mature and deals with some heavy themes. It’s also beautifully crafted— story, visually, and sonically. A uniquely powerful addition to Star Wars canon. pic.twitter.com/G6Oue6T9C3

I've watched 4 episodes of #Andor & I'm loving its more simple ground-level approach. It's different from the other shows, less humor. Plays like a crime drama more than a space opera. I dug how it highlights low-level Empire leaders as it reveals a rebel alliance slowly forming pic.twitter.com/SNsBIDrhbq

#Andor is great! It feels more adult than most of the Star Wars stories recently. It doesn’t have cute creatures or funny droids, it instead feels like an elevated slow burn premium cable tv series. I’ve seen the first 4 episodes and am very excited to see more! pic.twitter.com/fKhd3RaiHo

#Andor is the next Star Wars big-budget film, with a fantastic character-driven story you can only do in a 12-episode @DisneyPlus show. Things we love about #RogueOne pop up in this new series, such as @diegoluna_ and the shades of gray where these characters live. (1/3) pic.twitter.com/EKxEToR6iA

So when #Andor was announced, I was curious as to why. After eps 1-4, VERY clear why. First 5 minutes of ep 1 feels like Blade Runner but still feels like Star Wars. Music is epic, Eps are short but they still manage to develop character and story. Absolutely fantastic so far.

Broke my own rule and peeked at some of the early #Andor reactions (curiosity got the better of me) and am happy to see a lot of people reacting positively specifically to the risks it took. It's different and that's what makes it great. Ok, back to radio silence on the subject.

I watched Andor’s first four episodes weeks ago, but it’s been burned into my brain. The first two episodes are slooooow, to the point where I questioned if it felt like Star Wars. Then the third episode blew my mind, and I was hooked for the fourth. #Andor pic.twitter.com/T0v1G53iKF

First three episodes of #Andor powerfully set up the places, events, and people that shape Cassian. Really glad they did all three instead of two episodes to start. The fourth episode is my favorite. The scope expands and the story takes some tantalizing turns. pic.twitter.com/oi3bztLYmE

#Andor is incredible, one of the boldest things Star Wars has ever done. The three episode premiere is absolutely perfect, and the third episode is some of our favorite Star Wars ever. It’s thrilling, expansive, and timely.
