As the third Deadpool film is made by Marvel Studios, this news confirms that Jackman’s Wolverine will be in the MCU after playing the mutant in nine films.
Jackman’s last appearance as the character was in Logan, the R-rated Western that served as the perfect swan song for Jackman as Wolverine.
Interestingly, Logan director James Mangold posted a cryptic tweet showing Jackman’s character die in the 2017 film. Fans quick jumped on this tweet, assuming it signaled Mangold’s disapproval of the character’s return, but the director soon dispelled this notion and voiced his support for Wolverine’s MCU debut.
Oh my gosh! Everybody chill. Just kidding! I’m all good! LOGAN will always be there. Multiverse or prequel, time warp or worm hole, canon or non-canon or even without a rationale, I cannot wait to see what maddness my dear friends @VancityReynolds and @RealHughJackman cook up! pic.twitter.com/qaCG4Z39x4

The third Deadpool film will be directed by Shawn Levy, who most recently helmed Free Guy with Deadpool himself Ryan Reynolds.
Deadpool and Wolverine will make their MCU debut on September 9, 2024.
