After the release of the first trailer to the general public on Friday, attendees of Saturday’s Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 were treated to a second, extended trailer of Ahsoka with alternate and additional footage. Check out a description of the additional footage below.
The convention-exclusive trailer is largely the same as the trailer released to the public (Dave Filoni even called it a “remix” of Friday’s trailer). However, there are three key moments that feature exclusively in the second trailer.
Unlike the first trailer, which shows Grand Admiral Thrawn from behind, this trailer provides a front-shot of Thrawn. The character is played by Lars Mikkelsen, who previously voiced the Grand Admiral in Star Wars Rebels. Thrawn, as depicted in the trailer, looks exactly how one would expect. The costume and makeup department got the shade of blue spot on, and Mikkelsen’s eyes have an ominous red glow to them.

Another key moment exclusive to this second trailer involves Sabine Wren. Sabine, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, can be seen wielding a green lightsaber that looks similar to Ezra’s saber from Star Wars Rebels. Sabine can be seen using this green lightsaber to duel with Shin, a new villain wielding a red/orange lightsaber played by Ivanna Sakhno.

The final notable addition to this trailer occurs at the very end. Ahsoka and Sabine are piloting a ship when suddenly a purrgil can be seen flying in the cloudy background. Purrgils were introduced in Star Wars Rebels as space whales capable of traveling through hyperspace. They hold particular relevance to the characters in Ahsoka as Ezra and Thrawn vanished into hyperspace with Purrgils at the end of Rebels Season 4. More recently, Purrgils appeared in Chapter 17: The Apostate of The Mandalorian Season 3.
