After being teased earlier this year, Marvel Comics announced an upcoming crossover event arriving this summer. Titled Dark Droids, the ambitious series will be spearheaded by Charles Soule and feature contributions from Ethan Sacks, Alyssa Wong, Cavan Scott, and Marg Guggenheim.
Dark Droids #1 will launch in August and is written by Charles Soule with art from Luke Ross. The series will tie into the four ongoing Marvel Comics series that take place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi: Greg Pak’s Darth Vader, Alyssa Wong’s Doctor Aphra, Ethan Sacks’ Bounty Hunters, and Charles Soule’s Star Wars.
Dark Droids has been described as “a rare horror-fueled Star Wars epic set that erupts when a new threat is unleashed throughout the galaxy, corrupting droids, cyborgs, and everything in-between!” The series will introduce something called The Scourge and Ajax Sigma, who appeared in Star Wars: Revelations, will play a role in the crossover event. As teased by the team at Marvel Comics, the crossover event will tie back to the history of Jango Fett and lessons learned from Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn.
Dark Droids marks the fourth crossover event helmed by Soule, after the acclaimed War of the Bounty Hunters, Crimson Reign, and Hidden Empire. Take a look at what’s in store with the Dark Droids crossover event below.
