Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 releases in theaters this weekend as the highly anticipated third installment of this trilogy is finally ready for fans to see.
Vol. 3 follows the Guardians as they embark on their most personal mission yet, to save Rocket after being attacked by a (semi) villainous Adam Warlock. This is particularly difficult for Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill, aka Star Lord, to deal with, as he’s already lost his mother, his adoptive father, and most recently Gamora. This is a journey that fans have been closely invested in for years now, such is the strength of the partnership between Pratt and writer/director James Gunn.
Speaking at the global press conference for the film, which The HoloFiles had the opportunity to attend, Pratt discusses what it’s been like to work with Gunn, and reiterated his desire to collaborate again soon.
“With James, it’s been both the journey and the destination [that] have been glorious,” Pratt said. “The films are incredible. I don’t know how he does it. And so, just selfishly, I’d be willing to deal with a terrible journey to get to this destination [laughs]. But it happens to be an incredible destination, as well. We really get each other, support one another. And not just James, but, you know, you’re asking me if I would do something with James, but I would work with any of these [fellow Guardians cast members] again.”
Pratt and Gunn have clearly enjoyed working together so closely for the last decade or so, and that is reflected on the screen in the final product and in the audiences’ joyful and emotional reactions. After this, James Gunn will now focus on the DC franchise as the co-head of DC Studios, so fans have began to speculate that Pratt could take up a new superhero role at DC in the future.
