Ever since the premiere of The Mandalorian in Fall 2019, television has been the home to new stories in a galaxy far, far away. With so many different shows, both confirmed and rumored, in development, we thought it would be a good idea to outline what’s on the horizon in the Star Wars universe.

Check out a full breakdown of all the Confirmed and Rumored upcoming Star Wars shows below.

Confirmed Upcoming Shows

The Acolyte

Expected Release Date: June 2024

The Acolyte “is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”

The Acolyte is in development from writer and showrunner Leslye Headland, known for co-creating the hit Netflix series Russian Doll.

The series will star Amandla Stenberg (Bodies, Bodies, Bodies) as the aforementioned former Jedi Padawan. Stenberg is accompanied in an ensemble cast featuring Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

The Acolyte is expected to stream mid-2024 on Disney+. Check out a detailed description of exclusive footage shown at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 here

Skeleton Crew

Expected Release Date: Fall 2024

Skeleton Crew was announced at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim 2022 after a Vanity Fair report revealed Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts was developing a Star Wars show. Watts will serve as executive producer, alongside Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, while Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming writer Christopher Ford penned the scripts for the show.

Skeleton Crew follows “four kids who find themselves lost in the vastness of the galaxy trying to find their way home.” Watts elaborated at Celebration, explaining that the show “stars four kids, but it is not a kids show.” However, it will reportedly lean into Steven Spielberg and Amblin influences.

Jude Law stars in the show, potentially as a Jedi as indicated by footage shown at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023. Better Call Saul star Kerry Condon also stars in the show.

Skeleton Crew was initially rumored for a January 2024 release, but that is becoming increasingly unlikely. Regardless, the series is expected to debut in early 2024.

Andor Season 2

Expected Release Date: Late 2024 / Early 2025

The second and final season of the acclaimed Andor is also set to debut next year on Disney+. Like its predecessor, Season 2 will feature 12 episodes, with showrunner Tony Gilroy steering the ship once again.

Footage from Andor Season 2 was revealed at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 and is detailed here.

Season 2 will see the return of Diego Luna, Adria Arjona, Kyle Soller, Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Andy Serkis, and Stellan Skarsgård. It is expected to debut next year on Disney+.

Tales of the Jedi Season 2

Expected Release Date: 2025

Dave Filoni announced a second season of Tales of the Jedi at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023. “Tales of the Jedi was so fun the first time, I decided to do more,” said Dave Filoni.

While Season 1 focused on Count Dooku and Ahsoka Tano as its main characters, it is unclear which Jedi will feature prominently in the second season of the animated show.

Check out our review of Season 1 here.

Tales of the Jedi Season 2 is expected to debut in 2024 on Disney+.

The Mandalorian Season 4

Expected Release Date: TBD

The fourth season of The Mandalorian had previously been confirmed by various people associated with the production, although its existence is now in doubt given the announcement of The Mandalorian and Grogu movie coming in 2026. As of now, a Season 4 of the hit Disney+ show looks unlikely.

Ahsoka Season 2

Expected Release Date: 2025

Ahsoka Season 2 was recently confirmed by Lucasfilm. Dave Filoni, Rosario Dawson, and others have already spoken of their desire to continue this story and now this will pan out with a new season on Disney+ likely before The Mandalorian and Grogu and Filoni’s Star Wars film.

Rumored Upcoming Shows

The Book of Boba Fett Season 2

The Book of Boba Fett received mixed reviews upon release, and Lucasfilm may wish to give everyone’s favorite bounty hunter another shot in the spotlight. Various crew gear for the series described the season as ‘Season 1,’ implying that a follow-up could be on the cards.

Visions: Volume 3

One Take News reported that a third volume of the animated anthology series is coming soon. Our fingers are crossed for this one, because both Volume 1 and Volume 2 have been outstanding.

Rangers of the New Republic

Although officially announced during Disney Investor Day in Fall 2020, news about this Star Wars show has been suspiciously silent, making it more of a rumored upcoming show at this point. With the likes of Paul Sun-Hyung Lee’s Carson Teva played roles in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and The Book of Boba Fett, the series does have a natural lead if they choose to go ahead with this project. For now, there are big question marks as to whether this show will ever come to fruition.

The Acolyte Season 2

The Acolyte hasn’t even debuted yet, and still rumors are circulating that a successor season is on the way. With The Acolyte Season 1 taking place during the final days of the High Republic era, a Season 2 would possibly breach into prequel trilogy territory.
