The story trailer for Star Wars Outlaws has released and gotten us even more excited about the upcoming Star Wars video game. To be released on August 30 on Playstation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S, the open-world single-player video game Outlaws comes from developer Massive Entertainment and takes place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
Before we get to the trailer’s easter eggs and hidden details, check out the story trailer for Star Wars Outlaws below…

Here are all of the easter eggs, references, and hidden details we noticed in the trailer for Star Wars Outlaws…
The trailer opens with a scene reminiscent of The Book of Boba Fett. The crime boss at the head of the table (just like Boba Fett in the Disney+ series) is named Sliro and is dressed suspiciously like Jabba the Hutt from the original cut of Star Wars (1977).

The crime boss Sliro addresses several notable criminal syndicates that have appeared in a host of previous Star Wars stories. The Pykes appeared in The Clone Wars and were the main antagonists in The Book of Boba Fett. Crimson Dawn was the syndicate run by Darth Maul that was eventually taken over by Q’ira. It does not appear the Crimson Dawn representative in the Outlaws trailer is Q’ira, although it is possible this is the character originally played by Emilia Clarke in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
And, finally, there are the Hutts – the original crime syndicate in Star Wars, having made their debut all the way back in 1977. A Nikto can be seen representing the Hutts during this meeting.
Joining the fray of crime syndicates in the game is Zerek Besh, led by the aforementioned Sliro.
Regarding the Zerek Besh leader Sliro, creative director of Star Wars Outlaws Julian Gerighty said, “Sliro is really interesting because he’s an extraordinarily wealthy person who’s built a crime syndicate around him.”
Zerek Besh are a crime syndicate based out of Canto Bight, the casino planet that appeared in The Last Jedi. This organization, who seemingly will be Outlaws’ primary antagonists, was previously mentioned in the fifth issue of Crimson Reign and made their first appearance in the debut issue of Hidden Empire. Creative director Julian Gerighty described Zerek Besh as “making waves and it’s already taking its place amongst the most powerful crime syndicates in the galaxy. And where he crosses Kay’s path is when a job goes wrong and Kay finds herself on the run from one of the largest bounties ever placed on anybody in the galaxy.”
The lead character is named Kay Vess, described as “an up-and-comer in the galaxy’s underworld.” In the trailer, Kay comes across Han Solo frozen in carbonite. Not only does this detail tie Outlaws to the events of the original trilogy, but it also links the game to the War of the Bounty Hunters crossover comic run, which centered around various parties trying to secure Han Solo. At this point, Han Solo is in possession of Jabba the Hutt in Jabba’s Palace, which means Outlaws is set after War of the Bounty Hunters.
And Jabba the Hutt himself also makes an appearance in the trailer.
A bounty hunter named Vail is hired by Sliro to kill Kay. Vail is a brand new bounty hunter, described by creative director Julian Gerighty as having “ambiguous morals” and being “self-sufficient, extremely professional, [and] extremely single-minded in their approach.”
Another new character introduced in Star Wars Outlaws is Jaylen. In the trailer, Jaylen can be seen finding Kay and giving her the idea to rob from Zerek Besh and its boss Sliro in order to achieve her freedom. Creative director Julian Gerighty describes Jaylen as “almost like a mentor” to Kay. “He’s a little bit down on his luck, but he sees an opportunity not only to teach, but to profit from his relationship with Kay.”
Another new crime syndicate making their debut in Star Wars Outlaws is the Ashiga Clan.
A Pyke Syndicate boss appears in the trailer. This does not appear to be a character we’ve seen before, although the Pykes have appeared in all sorts of Star Wars stories.
The below shot of Kay shows that the character has tattoos. Although not the first Star Wars character to have tattoos (Darth Maul being the most notable), it’s always neat to see characters with this art form on their bodies.
A Chadra-Fan also appears in the trailer. This rodent-like species first appeared in the Mos Eisley Cantina in A New Hope.
A black protocol droid can be seen being worked on by a Rodian. The most notable black protocol droid is 0-0-0 (aka Triple Zero) from the Doctor Aphra comics.

The trench coat wearing droid is named ND-5. The internet went crazy for this droid when first revealed in the initial trailer for Star Wars Outlaws.
The planet Kijimi, which appeared and was destroyed in The Rise of Skywalker, also features in Outlaws.
Our lead character Kay finds herself up against a sarlacc in the trailer. The infamous sarlacc pit was introduced in Return of the Jedi.
Death Troopers also appear in the trailer. These specialized troopers first appeared in Rogue One, before also playing roles in Star Wars Rebels and The Mandalorian.
One of the planets in Star Wars Outlaws is Akiva, which featured prominently in the first Aftermath novel by Chuck Wendig. Akiva is an Outer Rim planet that, after the fall of the Empire and the events of the original trilogy, was a meeting place for a secret Imperial summit.
Kay’s ship in Star Wars Outlaws is called the Trailblazer. Creative director Julian Gerighty describes the ship as “a character by itself.” He explains that Kay “permanently borrows” the ship, which sounds a lot like how Han Solo came to acquire the Millennium Falcon.
Star Wars Outlaws will feature a reputation series like Red Dead Redemption II and seemingly a wanted-type measure like the police in Grand Theft Auto (except the police here appear to be the Empire).
The entire trailer of Star Wars Outlaws reminds us of the canceled video game Star Wars: 1313. This game was in development by LucasArts and was going to focus on a young Boba Fett navigating the criminal underworld in an area of Coruscant known as 1313.
The Ultimate Edition of the game will include a Kessel Runner Bonus Pack. Is it possible that we’ll actually get to do the Kessel Run in Outlaws? Our fingers are crossed.
Creative director Julian Gerighty says that “the original trilogy and Solo and Rogue One were the founding texts” in creating Star Wars Outlaws. He also referenced Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones as other influences.
