5 Predictions for ‘The Acolyte’ Finale

By George & Josh Bate

The season finale of The Acolyte is right around the corner, and with one episode left to go there remains plenty of unanswered questions. Check out our 5 Predictions for The Acolyte finale below….

5. There’s always a bigger fish….

To quote Qui-Gon, “There’s always a bigger fish.” And we think the ‘bigger fish’ in this case is The Stranger’s master. Although Qimir / The Stranger has been established as Mae’s (and now seemingly Osha’s) master, we think he is actually the apprentice of a Sith master.

Series creator Leslye Headland hinted at such in a recent interview, in which she discussed how the Sith apprentice always tries to overthrow its master and can even go so far as to recruit an apprentice of their own to do so.

4. Darth Plagueis and Darth Tenebrous reference

Leslye Headland has expressed a reverence for the move Darth Plagueis by James Luceno, even going so far as to suggest she has ideas of how she play that story out in The Acolyte.

It makes sense that, if The Stranger has a Sith master, it may be Darth Plagueis or Darth Tenebrous. Both of these Sith Lords originally in Legends, with Plagueis notably first mentioned in the iconic opera room speech in Revenge of the Sith.

Given its setting prior to The Phantom Menace, a reference to Plagueis or Tenebrous seems like it’s more than possible for The Acolyte. Will Plagueis or Tenebrous be the secret master of The Stranger? Possibly. But even if they aren’t, we still think the season finale will feature a nod to these legendary Sith Lords.

3. The true Acolyte will be revealed….

Our next prediction is that Osha will become Qimir’s apprentice, after realizing the extent of the Jedi’s actions on Brendok.

Leslye Headland hinted at such in an interview with The Nerdist. “What I think is interesting is that Qimir, and later the Stranger, never mistakes Osha for Mae,” Headland remarked. “And Sol mistakes Osha for Mae at least twice. That’s also meant to foreshadow who Osha’s real Master will be.”

2. Mae will join forces with the Jedi after hearing Sol out. The twins will swap places.

Following the previous prediction, we also think that The Acolyte will further head into The Parent Trap territory in having Mae and Osha continue to swap roles.

We think that the finale will show Mae develop sympathy for Sol and the Jedi after hearing Sol’s perspective of what happened on Brendok. In doing so, Mae may see the good intentions the Jedi have and go so far as to join their ranks, or at least align herself with them.

Conversely, we predict that Osha will be further twisted by the manipulative Qimir and turn into his apprentice.

1. Sol will be blamed for the deaths on Brendok, explaining away the presence of the Sith

Finally, we believe that the season finale will address the fact that, by the time of The Phantom Menace, the Jedi are unaware of the existence of the Sith. In order for this to hold true, the events on Khofar that led to deaths of Yord, Jecki, and others will need to be addressed in a way that means the Jedi do not attribute the killings to a Sith Lord.

In episode 6, Vernestra Rwoh was seeing investigating the aftermath of The Stranger’s rampage. We believe the finale will continue to show Vernestra’s investigation and conclude on a devastating note… that Sol is responsible.

This is our most out there prediction on this list, but we think there’s some indications the series is heading in this direction. Sol was the sole (pun intended) survivor of the clash with The Stranger in episode 5. As such, he is the only remaining Jedi to have knowledge of The Stranger as a Sith Lord (or at least, Sol knows that The Stranger called himself a Sith Lord). Because of this fact, we think that Sol will either die and/or be the scapegoat for The Stranger’s actions. This would allow the Jedi to arrive at an explanation (albeit a wrong one) for the murders of Yord, Jecki, that Plo Koon lookalike, and others.
