With D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event just days away, we’re going to throw out some predictions for the kind of reveals and announcements we think will occur at the expo.
The Disney Entertainment Showcase (which is held from 7pm – 9pm PT at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California) is the big event at D23. Disney have already confirmed that the panel will feature star-studded guests, exclusive footage, and surprising announcements from franchises and titles like Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, and more. There is also a Lucasfilm Animation panel on Sunday April 11th at 12:00pm PT, which could also feature reveals.

Star Wars D23 2024 Predictions
Prediction 1: Skeleton Crew trailer
Likelihood: High
Skeleton Crew is the next live-action Star Wars series and, as such, is highly likely to feature during the Disney Entertainment Showcase. With a ton of new info about and pictures from the Jude Law-led show dropping last week, it makes sense that Disney and Lucasfilm would follow that up with coverage at D23.
We predict that the crowd at D23 will be presented with a trailer for Skeleton Crew, and that this trailer will be released simultaneously to the public.
Of note, a trailer for Skeleton Crew was presented to the crowd present at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 last April, meaning there is seemingly already a trailer ready to go for public release. Especially considered that this show was officially announced over two years ago now, we think D23 2024 will be the perfect opportunity to showcase Skeleton Crew.
Prediction 2: Andor trailer
Likelihood: High
The second and final season of Andor will hit Disney+ in 2025, which means a publicly released trailer for the Star Wars show is unlikely. However, we predict that a trailer for Andor Season 2 will be presented exclusively to the D23 crowd. This is exactly what happened at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023, during which attendees for the main panel were given a first look at the show.
Prediction 3: Star Wars animated show revealed
Likelihood: Moderate
As of the writing of this article, there is no officially announced Star Wars animated series in development. But we think this could change following D23 2024.
Given that there is also a Lucasfilm Animation panel at D23 2024, there are multiple opportunities for a big reveal about a new Star Wars animated show at the upcoming Disney expo.
This year has already featured The Bad Batch Season 3 and Tales of the Empire, with the former offering plenty of tantalizing teases for successor animated show. Rumors about a Captain Rex-led clone rebellion show have circulated, while the final season of The Bad Batch offered a path forward for Omega in a new story.
Another likely candidate for a Star Wars animated show announcement is Star Wars: Visions Volume 3. Lucasfilm has yet to officially confirm the third season of the acclaimed anthology show, but it seems highly likely that the third season is in development.
Prediction 4: First look at The Mandalorian & Grogu
Likelihood: Low
This one falls more so in the category of ‘hopeful’ than ‘prediction,’ but we don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that a first look at the upcoming film The Mandalorian & Grogu is presented to the D23 crowd.
The upcoming Star Wars movie starring Din Djarin and his little foundling is set to hit theaters in May 2026, and the film began filming this summer. Although filming is yet to be complete, it is not unheard of for trailers to drop for projects yet to finish production (this happened with Justice League and Matt Reeves’ The Batman, both of which had trailers release while they were still filming).
If there is a first look at The Mandalorian & Grogu, it will likely be an official still or maybe a behind-the-scenes picture officially announcing that production is underway. Regardless, we’ll keep our fingers crossed (and expectations fairly low) that the upcoming Star Wars film receives special attention at D23 2024.
Prediction 5: Ahsoka Season 2 details
Likelihood: Moderate
Ahsoka Season 2 has been officially announced, but has yet to begin production. Given Dave Filoni’s likely presence at D23 2024 and the fact that Ahsoka Season 2 will be the next Star Wars live-action series to go into production, it would make sense for Filoni to discuss the new season. We predict that a tentative release window will be provided and maybe a piece of concept art from Filoni teasing what’s to come in Ahsoka Tano’s next adventure.
Marvel D23 2024 Predictions
Prediction 1: Daredevil: Born Again trailer
Likelihood: Moderate
Charlie Cox recently confirmed that he will be at D23 2024 to promote Daredevil: Born Again. Cox was present alongside Kingpin himself Vincent D’Onofrio at the last D23, where they both spoke about the upcoming Marvel series.
A number of behind-the-scenes changes have occurred as Daredevil: Born Again has been developed, but now feels like the time a trailer may be ready to drop.
Prediction 2: Updates to MCU slate
Likelihood: High
There are several untitled Marvel Studios films currently slated on Disney’s calendar, and we think D23 2024 will be the perfect time for Kevin Feige to announce what these films are. Possible candidates include Doctor Strange 3 and Thor 5.
Prediction 3: Ironheart release date
Likelihood: Moderate
Ironheart completed production quite some time ago, but fans have yet to get a look at the new MCU series. We predict that Feige will announce a release date (or at least a release window) for the upcoming show and present a trailer to the D23 crowd.
Prediction 4: X-Men ’97 Season 2 details
Likelihood: Moderate
X-Men ’97 Season 1 became one of Marvel’s most acclaimed projects to date, making the upcoming second season highly anticipated. Concept art, preliminary footage, and details about the second season of the show seem likely at D23, although they’re not a certainty.
Prediction 5: Fantastic 4 suits
Likelihood: Low
The Fantastic 4: First Steps recently began production in the U.K., so a trailer or anything of that sort is highly unlikely. However, D23 2024 would be the perfect opportunity to showcase first looks at the suits for Marvel’s first family. We’ve already seen what they may look like in concept art (see above), so a first look at the actual suits could be on the cards.
Prediction 6: Thunderbolts* trailer
Likelihood: High
Thunderbolts* footage was recently showcased at San Diego Comic-Con, and we expect D23 2024 will follow suit by giving the crowd a look at the upcoming villains-led Marvel film. A trailer seems highly likely to be presented to the crowd, while a simultaneous release to the public seems less likely.
