2024 was an amazing year in a galaxy far, far away. And 2025 seems like it will continue that trend.
At The HoloFiles and Star Wars Holocron, we’re taking a look into the new year and pointing out our 10 most anticipated Star Wars shows, events, books, comics, and more.
Here is our Most Anticipated Star Wars Projects/Events of 2025….
10. The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown
The Acolyte won a number of awards in our Best of Star Wars in 2024 Awards and, despite the television series (seemingly) being over, the show’s characters will live on in other media.
The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown is an upcoming YA novel written by Tessa Gratton about Yord Fandar and Jecki Lon. The publisher’s summary for the new novel is as follows: “An exciting adventure starring fan-favorite Jedi Padawans Jecki and Yord from the Disney+ live-action series, The Acolyte.
While their Jedi Masters clean up a political mess left by one of their own, Jedi Padawan Jecki and her least favorite Padawan Yord are drawn into a planet-wide coming-of-age ritual as featured guests. The first ritual goes well, but when the event is interrupted, Jecki and Yord will have to use all of their abilities and work together to keep each other — and their new friends — safe from danger.
This young adult novel is Star Wars meets The Hunger Games and offers fans of The Acolyte a chance to spend more time with two of their favorite characters from the show.”
The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown releases July 29, 2025.
9. Jedi Knights
If you’re not reading Star Wars comics, you’re really missing out as some of the best stories in a galaxy far, far away in recent years have unfolded in the pages of comics. A new comic series titled Jedi Knights debuts in 2025 and is easily one of our most anticipated Star Wars projects of the new year.
Jedi Knights comes from writer Marc Guggenheim and illustrator Madibek Musabekov. The series takes place before the events of The Phantom Menace. Each issue will follow two different Jedi on a separate mission, and eventually all of these missions will tie together into an overarching threat.
The first issue of Jedi Knights is published by Marvel Comics and will release on March 2025.
8. 10th Anniversary of The Force Awakens

Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens turns 10 years old in 2025 (which is such an unusual thing to wrap your head around). The all too quick passage of time aside, The Force Awakens’ 10th anniversary is something we’re really looking forward to as this remains one of our favorite Star Wars films over at The HoloFiles and Star Wars Holocron.
There is no confirmation about what The Force Awakens’ 10th anniversary celebration will entail, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed of a theatrical re-release and some exciting toys and collectibles to go along with it.
7. 20th Anniversary of Revenge of the Sith

May 19, 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. George Lucas’ final Star Wars movie remains beloved by fans all around the world, and seemingly continues to grow in appreciation year upon year.
While information about celebrations for the 20th anniversary remain under wraps, we suspect that they will involve a theatrical re-release of the film, in addition to all sorts of toys and collectibles. Just the prospect of seeing Revenge of the Sith unfold on the big screen again gives us goosebumps.
6. Reign of the Empire – Mask of Fear

After co-hosting a giveaway for an early copy of the upcomin novel Reign of the Empire – Mask of Fear, we were able to get our hands on a copy of the new book ourselves. And let’s just say, we think this book could be a gamechanger for Star Wars novels. The book, in many ways, feels like a precursor to Andor, depicting the early Rebellion activity of Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, and Saw Gerrera in the year after the events of Revenge of the Sith. Alexander Freed’s novel (which is the first of a planned trilogy) is Star Wars at its most political, intricate in its plotting, and nail-bitingly intense in its stakes. We can’t wait for everyone to read this early contender for our favorite Star Wars book of 2024.
Reign of the Empire – Mask of Fear hits bookshelves on February 25, 2025.
5. The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi

It seems like the High Republic publishing initiative started just yesterday, and now everything is coming to an end. Releasing on June 17, 2025, The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi will be the final novel of the multimedia project’s Phase III.
The previous adult novel, The High Republic: Temptation of the Force, was excellent and we’re looking forward to seeing how the conflict between the Jedi and Marchion Ro’s Nihil comes to an end in Trials of the Jedi. We’re as excited as we are nervous for what this new book will entail….
The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi hits bookshelves on June 17, 2025.
4. Skeleton Crew finale

The final two episodes of Skeleton Crew premiere in 2025 (episode 7 on January 7 and episode 8 on January 14). We’ve loved everything about Skeleton Crew so far, including the cast of endearing characters, the range of Amblin influences, the humor, the worlds, and, most of all, the sheer sense of joy that comes from watching this show.
Episode 7 is directed by Lee Isaac Chung (who previously helmed Twisters and Minari, in addition to Chapters 19 and 21 of The Mandalorian Season 3). Episode 8, meanwhile, sees series co-creator Jon Watts step into the director’s chair once again, after he directed the series’ first episode.
Skeleton Crew episode 7 premieres January 7 and episode 8 premieres January 14 on Disney+.
3. Visions Volume 3
The critically-acclaimed series of Star Wars shorts returns for a third volume in 2025. Whereas Volume 2 presented shorts created by animation studios from around the world, Volume 3 will see the series return to its roots with nine new shorts from Japanese anime studios.
The animation studios completed shorts for Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 are: Kamikaze Douga, Kinema citrus Co., Production I.G, TRIGGER, ANIMA, David Production, Polygon Pictures, Project Studio Q, and WIT Studio.
We may be getting our hopes up, but the fact that several studios who previously produced shorts in Volume 1 has us excited at the prospect of sequels/follow-ups to some of the excellent shorts in Volume 1. Kamikaze Douga (the studio that made The Duel), Kinema citrus Co. (the studio that made The Village Bride), Production I.G. (the studio that made The Ninth Jedi), and TRIGGER (the studio that made The Elder and The Twins) are all returning with brand new shorts in Volume 3. Regardless of whether these are follow-ups to previous shorts or brand new stories altogether, we couldn’t be more excited for what Visions Volume 3 entails.
Star Wars: Visions Volume 3 will premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
2. Andor Season 2

Andor Season 1 is one of the best Star Wars releases since Disney acquired Lucasfilm, which makes us extremely eager to watch Season 2 in 2025.
Early footage of the series shown at Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 and D23 2024 previewed what’s to come in the continued adventures of Cassian Andor, Mon Mothma, and company, and somehow managed to increase our anticipation for the new season.
Andor Season 2 will take place over the course of four years, with four three-episode blocks depicting a few days of a given year. The final block of episodes will lead directly into the beginning of Rogue One, which will make Andor Season 2 to Rogue One what Rogue One was to A New Hope.
Making Andor Season 2 all the more exciting is the fact that its release will coincide with Star Wars Celebration Japan, meaning Star Wars fans from around the world will be able to gather and share their anticipation in the days leading up to the show (and hopefully catch a sneak peek of what’s to come).
Andor Season 2 premieres April 22, 2025 on Disney+.
