On Good Morning America, the cast of the highly anticipated MCU film The Fantastic Four: First Steps launched the trailer for their upcoming blockbuster epic. Check out the trailer below and keep reading for a breakdown of easter eggs and hidden details from the trailer.

The trailer is excellent in establishing a unique 1960s retro sci-fi tone/aesthetic and has made us even more excited for the film to hit theaters this July. Here are our hidden details and easter eggs you might have missed in the trailer….
The Baxter Building features prominently in the trailer. This is the home to Marvel’s first family and made its debut in issue 3 of the Fantastic Four comic from 1962.

Just like director Matt Shakman did with WandaVision, The Fantastic Four: First Steps plays with the aspect ratio, further immersing the audience within the alternate 1960s setting.

The Thing cooks with the robot H.E.R.B.I.E., who first appeared in the 1978 animated series The New Fantastic Four.

The Thing cooks with H.E.R.B.I.E., which gave us chuckle considering the actor who plays The Thing, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, plays cousin Richie in The Bear.

In the shot below, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards can be seen writing on a blackboard. In the background of the blackboard is a U-shaped, bridge-like structure, which we think is Reed’s attempt at explaining how to travel one universe to another. The Fantastic Four; First Steps is part of the MCU’s The Multiverse Saga and it takes place in a different universe than Earth-616 (the universe the other MCU movies are set in), so it makes sense that the film will begin to venture into other universes.

The team fly off in a spaceship, which may be Marvel-1 from the very first issue of Fantastic Four in 1961.

Next to the television that plays an interview with Ben and Reed, a sign says that the TV is on sale at Kaplan’s. Jeff Kaplan is one of the screenwriters of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Ben wears a hat and a trench coat, a look that he also had in the Fantastic Four film from 2004. This look is also reminiscent of Raphael from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles live-action movie.

When Johnny Storm flames on in the trailer, specks of dirt fly onto the camera lens.

The blue car in the trailer is the Fantasticar, a flying care that first appeared in issue 3 of Fantastic Four in 1962.

John Malkovich appears in the trailer. Fans have speculated that he may be playing Ivan Kragoff, a.k.a. Red Ghost, a villain from the comics.

Towering over New York City is Galactus, the main villain of the film. Galactus is played by Ralph Ineson, who most recently appeared in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu.

The final shot of the trailer shows the team all suited up. This shot looks very similar to The Beatles’ first performance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964.
