The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen made his long-awaited return as Daredevil: Born Again had its red carpet premiere in New York City on Tuesday February 24. The first two episodes of the new MCU series were screened at the premiere and have since received glowing initial reactions, praising the show as matching the tone and brutality of the original three seasons while taking the journey of Matt Murdock in a bold, new direction.

Anthony Gagliardi of The Movie Podcast on Twitter/X said Daredevil: Born Again is “GRITTY, RUTHLESS & UNFORGIVINGLY BLOODY! Fans of the original series are in for a treat, echoing the first season’s intensity and rage. Cox & D’Onofrio still steal the show. Two episodes in, and all I can say is The Man Without Fear is BACK!”

The Illuminerdi, meanwhile, were particularly praiseworthy of the action in the series, stating that Born Again ‘sets a new and incredibly high bar for fight chorography and action sequences in the MCU.”

Sean O’Connell of Cinema Blend wrote regarding the show, “Holy Hell’s Kitchen! [‘Daredevil: Born Again’] opens with a lengthy, devastating sequence that screams, ‘This is just as brutal as Netflix.’ From there, the 2 episodes lay out a layered story about cops, vigilantes, and guilt. Read DEVIL’S REIGN as a refresh. Off to a GREAT start!”

Chris Killian from ComicBook.com and Brandon Davis of the Phase Hero podcast voiced one of the few criticisms of the first two episodes, stating that “some of the CGI feels rushed.”

Brandon Davis also reassured many Daredevil fans that Born Again is a “TRUE continuation of the Netflix series….It kicks ass, moves quick, and takes no prisoners. Really solid first 2 eps.”
