Now, let’s breakdown the new Andor Season 2 trailer….

The sound of the alarms blaring in the Andor trailer remind us of the same sound effect used in the teaser trailer for Rogue One.
The below shot of Dedra Meero on Coruscant parallels a similar shot of Leia on Cloud City in The Empire Strikes Back.

In the distance of this shot in the trailer, you can spot a Star Destroyer hovering over Jedha City. This is just like in Rogue One.

Several shots from the trailer show Mon Mothma delivering a speech to the Imperial Senate on Coruscant. At one point. Mothma says to the crowd, “The monster will come for us all!” We think that these shots and this line are from a speech Mothma will give to the Imperial Senate in Season 2 finally denouncing Emperor Palpatine following the Ghorman Massacre. Showrunner Tony Gilroy has already confirmed that the show will depict the events of the Ghorman Massacre, a key event that sees Mon Mothma make a public stance against the Empire following years of more covert resistance.

A brief shot in the trailer shows Vel Sartha and Cinta Kaz. The couple from Andor Season 1 won the hearts of many Star Wars fans.

Many shots in the trailer depict a peaceful prairie planet with Bix, Brasso, Wilmon Paak, and others that is eventually disrupted by Imperial forces. We think, after the events of the Andor Season 1 finale and the rebellion on Ferrix, that Bix and company fled to this prairie planet to make a new home for themselves. Unfortunately, it seems as if the Empire catches up with them. Although, as revealed in an earlier trailer for Season 2, Cassian seems to arrive just in time to save the day.

After the rousing Season 1 finale, Brasso became a fan favorite for many. Here is in the Season 2 trailer sporting a new beard and a nice smile. Unfortunately, we doubt Brasso will remain as happy as this as the show progresses.

After playing a small role in previous promotional material for Andor Season 2, Adria Arjona’s Bix Caleen features more prominently in the new trailer. Shots of her on the aformentioned peaceful prairie planet are followed by several scenes of intimacy with Cassian. In a recent livestream, Tony Gilroy confirmed that admirers of Cassian and Bix’s romance will be pleased with the direction the show heads in.

Back with a vengeance is Ben Mendelsohn as Director Orson Krennic. Several shots from the trailer show just how villainous this character is (and how amazing of an actor Mendelsohn is).

The solitary shot of K-2SO in the trailer shows the sassy droid effortlessly smack an Imperial guard off a bridge. It will be interesting to see how such a comedic character fits into the mature, darker tone of Andor.

One of the more interesting moments in the trailer shows Luthen’s assistant Kleya talk about the Death Star. With the events of Rogue One coming closer and closer, it seems that the Death Star will play a prominent role in the plot of Andor Season 2. Kleya’s knowledge of the Death Star stands out in this trailer as it indicates that rebels like her and likely Luthen become aware of it at some point. In Rogue One, the Rebel Alliance becomes aware of the Death Star through Galen Erso and Bodhi Rook. We’re curious how Kleya (and likely Luthen) come to know of the Death Star in Andor.

In the below shot, members of Saw Gerrera’s Partisans, including Two-Tubes and Moroff, appear.

Our initial reaction to the below shot of Dedra Meero was that she is having some kind of panic attack here. But is it possible that she is being Force choked by someone? It seems unlikely, but, given Dedra’s proximity to Imperial leadership, it is not out of the realm of possibility that she has a less than savory encounter with someone like Darth Vader or even Emperor Palpatine.

We’re very curious what role Luthen Rael will play in Season 2. He is one of the few main characters whose journey we do not know the end of heading into the new season. Luthen’s double life as an aristocrat and rebel seems like it will continue to be explored in Season 2, although how his arc will resolve remains unclear. Many have speculated that the character is bound to die given his absence in future projects like Rogue One, but we think it is possible Luthen could live on somehow. Regardless, Tony GIlroy recently said that Luthen’s backstory/origins will be revealed in Season 2, a prospect that us very excited.

Appearing in the trailer several times is Wilmon Paak. This minor character from Season 1 delivered one of the more emotionally devastating moments of Andor when he tearfully looked up at Maarva’s rousing speech in the finale. We predict that Wilmon Paak will play a larger role in Season 2. It appears he will initially be with Bix and Brasso hiding out on the peaceful prairie planet, before joining forces with Cassian for a mission (possibly to do with the Ghorman Massacre).

Tony Gilroy confirmed that a wedding will take place in Season 2, and it appears the below shot is from that wedding. The wedding will seemingly be between Mon Mothma’s daughter Lieda and the son of Davo Sculdun.

Syril Karn makes a brief appearance in the Season 2 trailer. Below he appears to be speaking in the same Imperial bureaucratic office he occupied in Season 1.

Syril speaks to several KX-series security droids in this shot from the trailer. We wonder if one of these is secretly K-2SO?

The underappreciated Anton Lesser returns as Major Partagaz in Season 2. Partagaz was an articulate, threatening antagonist in Season 1, with a presence that contributed significantly to how refined and polished Andor feels.

The trailer concludes with the full title of the show – Andor: A Star Wars Story – appearing on screen. It has been seven years since the ‘A Star Wars Story’ subtitle appeared (that was with Solo: A Star Wars Story). For a while, it seemed like ‘A Star Wars Story’ was going to be the label used for any non-Skywalker Saga movies/shows, but it was retired after being met with some criticism from fans. Andor Season 2, however, sees the franchise reclaim this subtitle, fitting given Season 2’s proximity to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
