What’s New in Star Wars – April 2025

April is shaping up to be the best month of 2025 for Star Wars fans. Not only does the ultimate fan event Star Wars Celebration kick off this month in Japan, but 6 new episodes of Andor and a host of new video games and books (+ the theatrical re-release of Revenge of the Sith) also release this month. Below includes a list and description of upcoming Star Wars projects in the month of April 2025. It is important to note that all of these release dates are subject to change.

April 1 – The High Republic: Into the Light 

As The High Republic Publishing Imitative nears its end, veteran Star Wars author Claudia Gray delivers a new young adult novel this April.

The publisher’s summary for The High Republic: Into the Light is as follows: “The New York Times best-selling series is coming to an epic conclusion—witness the beginning of the end!

April 1 – LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia Updated Edition 

The fourth edition of the LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia from DK Publishing releases this April.

April 2 – Hyperspace Stories: The Bad Batch: Ghost Agents 2 

Clone Force 99 return to action in the second issue of this Dark Horse Comics series from writer Michael Moreci and artists Reese Hannigan, Elisabetta D’Amico, and Michael Atiyeh,

The publisher’s summary is as follows: “The Bad Batch race bounty hunter Embo to recover stolen intelligence that could compromise Republic spies everywhere! Their mission brings them face-to-face with the nefarious Pyke Syndicate, a notorious gang of spice smugglers that poses a serious threat to the clones. April 8 – The High Republic: The Edge of Balance: Premonition 

Star Wars meets manga in the latest volume of The High Republic: The Edge of Balance. Written by Daniel José Older and illustrated by Haining, this Viz Media release features Yoda and Marchion Ro.

The publisher’s summary is as follows: “A massive, interconnected cross-publisher initiative focused on an all-new era of Star Wars storytelling.

The galaxy has been plunged into darkness as the fearsome Nihil continue their destructive advance from the Outer Rim!

April 9 – Jedi Knights 2 

The second issue of this prequel-era comic series from writer Marc Guggenheim and artists Madibek Musabekov and Luis Guerrero hits comic stores this April.

April 9 – Star Wars (1977) 1 Facsimile Edition [Reprint]

The very first Star Wars comic from 1977 is reprinted this month (with the original art, panels, and ads!).

April 15 – A New Hope: A Collector’s Classic Board Book 

Comics legend Howard Chaykin and Abrams Books team up for a new picture book adapting the events of A New Hope.

April 16 – Legacy of Vader 3 

Charles Soule and Luke Ross continue to peel back the layers of Kylo Ren’s psyche in this new comic series.

The publisher’s summary for the third issue of Legacy of Vader is as follows: “KYLO REN — PRISONER ON TATOOINE! KYLO REN has been imprisoned by the ruthless GARDULLA THE HUTT! The young tyrant must survive the harsh conditions of his grandfather DARTH VADER’S homeworld! And who is the mysterious FORCE USER in Gardulla’s employ?”

April 16 – The High Republic Adventures 17 

The 17th issue of Dark Horse comics’ The High Republic Adventures written by Daniel José Older and illustrated by Harvey Tolibao debuts this month.

The publisher’s summary is as follows: “As Battle of Eriadu continues, the leader of the resistance, Jedi Knight Farzala Tarabal is faced with an impossible decision: risk the lives of his friends, or forfeit their chances of defeating the Nihil. It’s a dilemma that sees Farzala descend to a dark place, only to discover a surprising confidant.”

April 17 – Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PlayStation 5

Not exactly Star Wars, but Star Wars-adjacent given the Lucasfilm association, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is released on PS5 this month! The video game from Bethesda Softworks received rave reviews when it was released on PC and Xbox in late 2024, and now PS5 users can see what the hype is all about.

April 18 – Star Wars Celebration Japan – Day 1

The first day of Star Wars Celebration Japan features panels about The Mandalorian & Grogu, Lucasfilm Animation, Light & Magic Season 2, and Lucasfilm Publishing.

April 19 – Star Wars Celebration Japan – Day 2

Day 2 of Celebration Japan features two big panels: Andor and Ahsoka. In addition, “The Siege of Mandalore” arc from The Clone Wars will be screened and a new Star Wars turn-based tactics game will be revealed.

April 20 – Star Wars Celebration Japan – Day 3

The third and final day of Celebration Japan will feature a first look at Visions Volume 3 + panels from Disney Imagineering and ILM.

April 22 – Andor Season 2 – Episodes 1-3

Cassian Andor, Mon Mothma, Luthen Rael, and company return as the highly anticipated second season of Andor premieres on Disney+. Each week will see the release of 3 episodes, which creator Tony Gilroy has described as episode blocks. Stay tuned to The HoloFiles and Star Wars Holocron each week for reviews, analyses, and easter egg breakdowns.

April 22 – The High Republic: The Edge of Balance, Vol. 4 

More High Republic stories this month as writers Shima Shinya and Daniel José Older and artist Mizuki Sakakibara deliver the fourth volume of The High Republic; The Edge of Balance.

The publisher’s summary is as follows: “A massive, interconnected cross-publisher initiative focused on an all-new era of Star Wars storytelling.

April 22 – Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Echoes of Fear (trade paperback) 

All four issues of George Mann and Dark Horse Comics’ The High Republic Adventures: Echoes of Fear comic series are collected in this new trade paperback.

The publisher’s summary is as follows: “A pair of Jedi investigate the strange and powerful Echo Stones in the hopes of defeating the Nameless. What they discover is a legendary story that spans the galaxy’s history!

April 22 – Star Wars Insider 231 

Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith with the latest issue of Star Wars Insider. Plus enjoy a new High Republic story, a behind the scenes look at in-galaxy reference books, and interviews with Visions executive producer James Waugh and ILM artists.

April 25 – Theatrical re-release of Revenge of the Sith

“This is where the fun begins.”

Twenty years after its initial release, Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith returns to theaters. For the first time ever, fans will also have the chance to catch the film in 4DX, the immersive movie-watching format involving motion seats.

April 29 – Andor Season 2 – Episodes 4-6 

The second block of Andor Season 2 episodes also premieres this April on Disney+.

April 29 – Star Wars: Crimson Reign Omnibus 

Those who missed the Crimson Reign comic crossover event can catch up with this new omnibus from Marvel Comics, which collects issues 1-5 of Crimson Reign, issues 19-25 of Star Wars, issues 18-24 of Bounty Hunters, issues 18-24 of Darth Vader, and issues 16-21 of Doctor Aphra.

April 29 – Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Phase III — Crash Zone 

This new trade paperback compiles three one-shots from The High Republic Adventures.

April 29 – Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy: Updated and Expanded

Initially scheduled for release back in 2021, this new Level 1 World of Reading young readers book by Emeli Juhlin will focus on Rey Skywalker.

A new comic series starring Poe Dameron debuts this month! The comic is written by Ethan Sacks and illustrated by Marc Yarza, Jose Marzan Jr., and Nicola Righi.

Cavan Scott and Marika Cresta’s dramatic High Republic comic series continues this April with its third issue.
