Star Wars Celebration Japan hasn’t even started and yet big announcements from a galaxy far, far away are starting.
On May the 4th, Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld will premiere on Disney+. The series follows in the footsteps of Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire in being comprised of six shorts focusing on two characters. Tales of the Underworld will feature three shorts about Asajj Ventress and three shorts about Cad Bane.
A trailer for the new show can be seen below….

The trailer features a number of stunning visuals that continue to demonstrate how every Star Wars animation project continues to surpass its predecessor in terms of visual spectacle.
The official plot description of the show states that it will follow “following two notorious bounty hunters: former dark side assassin Asajj Ventress as she’s given a new chance at life and must go on the run with an unexpected new ally, and outlaw Cad Bane as he faces his past when he confronts an old friend, now a marshal on the other side of the law.”
The trailer shows Asajj Ventress take another Force user and lightsaber wielder under her belt, who StarWars.com revealed to be a “young Padawan [grappling] with life after Order 66.”
A mysterious new enemy with a red lightsaber is also shown in the trailer. Given the padawan’s role in the plot, we suspect this enemy is an Inquisitor.
Although not revealed in the trailer, the poster art below reveals the return of two other familiar faces: Latts Razzi and C-21 Highsinger. This duo of bounty hunters made their debuts in The Clone Wars.

Nika Futterman and Corey Burton reprise their roles as Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane respectively in the series, while Artt Butler, Lane Factor, AJ LoCascio, Clare Grant, Dawn-Lyen Gardner, and Eric Lopez also make up the cast.
Dave Filoni created the show and serves as supervising director and executive producer alongside Athena Yvette Portillo and Carrie Back. Matt Michnovetz, who was the head writer of The Clone Wars Seasons 6 and 7, co-wrote the story of Jedi: Fallen Order, and did some work on the canceled underworld video game Star Wars: 1313, wrote Tales of the Underworld. Josh Rimes is co-executive producer and Alex Spotswood is the senior producer.
