Marvel’s first family returns to the big screen this month and Marvel Studios are marking the occasion with a stunning skywriting event in Chicago.
The skies above Navy Pier, North Avenue Beach, Lakeshore Park, and Wrigley Field were lit up with the iconic “4” symbol in celebration of the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps and turned the city of Chicago into a real-life scene from Marvel Comics.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will begin the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Six when it hits theaters on July 25. The film is set in a retro-futuristic, Tomorrowland-esque 1960s and will introduce audiences to new versions of Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn). Together, the family will come face-to-face with the planet-devouring Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and the enigmatic Silver Surfer (Julia Garner).
