One of Star Wars television’s best and prolific directors officially announced her return to a galaxy far, far away.
Recently, at Los Angeles Comic Con, Bryce Dallas Howard confirmed that she is the director of two episodes of Ahsoka Season 2. This means that Howard will helm one-fourth of the sophomore season of the hit Disney+ series. Howard confirmed that filming is complete and that she is currently overseeing the edit.
Howard’s comments confirm that she is the only director to have directed episodes of The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Skeleton Crew, and Ahsoka. This now also means she has directed more live-action episodes of Star Wars television than anyone else, beating Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow’s six episodes.
Even more intriguing is how Howard describes Ahsoka Season 2. Here’s what she had to say…
“It is so good, it’s beautiful, it’s thrilling, adventure. It is romantic, it is everything you want from an epic story.”

Howard’s usage of the term “romantic” is particularly intriguing. Ahsoka Season 1 was absent of any traditional romances, which does not seem to be the case with Season 2. A romance between Sabine and Ezra has long been teased, although many interpret that relationship as more sibling than romantic. Many fans ship Sabine and Shin Hati, Baylan Skoll’s dark sided apprentice played by Ivanna Sakhno, a romance that would seem even more interesting than Sabine and Ezra’s.
Also of note is Howard’s description of the season as “an epic story.” This is in line with what Dave Filoni and Rosario Dawson said of Season 2 at Star Wars Celebration Japan. At the convention, Filoni described Ahsoka Season 2 as encompassing a massive war between Thrawn and the New Republic. Based on Howard’s comments, it seems like Season 2 will put the “war” back in Star Wars.
