Just five months away from the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu and we know fairly little about the plot of the first theatrically released Star Wars movie in seven years. But a new possible plot description that has surfaced online may offer a glimpse at what Jon Favreau’s new movie is really about.
As discovered by Mandoverse Updates, a German Blu-Ray website offers a previously unseen plot description for The Mandalorian and Grogu in a listing for a pre-order of the 4K Limited Steelbook Edition release of the movie. Check out the plot description below….
“The Empire has been defeated and the remnants of its force scattered to the far corners of the galaxy. Yet some of the former commanders of this dark era cling to their power and have become dangerous warlords. Din Djarin together with his apprentice Grogu track down and neutralize these cells. Several clues lead them to Khar’Zuun where they not only manage to infiltrate an almost forgotten imperial facility but Grogu also discovers an ancient artifact that functions as an amplifier of his abilities.”

Firstly, take this with a grain of salt as it is unclear if the German Blu-Ray website accidentally and prematurely dropped a more detailed explanation of The Mandalorian and Grogu or if this is entirely incorrect. For fun, assuming the former provides us with a better idea of what the upcoming film’s story will entail.
The first part of the synopsis seems consistent with footage shown at Celebration and D23, in addition to the publicly released trailer. Favreau spoke to Empire Magazine about Din Djarin becoming a good guy now as he serves the New Republic, something that was set up with the conclusion of Season 3. It makes sense then that Din and Grogu find themselves against Imperial remnants again as this is seemingly one of the primary focuses of the New Republic.
The second part of the synopsis, however, is where things get more intriguing. Grogu seemingly comes across an artifact that enhances his Force abilities. The first thing that comes to mind here is the Kaiburr crystal from Legends (not to be mistaken with kyber crystals). Kaiburr crystal was first referenced in the Legends novel Splinter of the Mind’s Eye, which showed the crystal’s ability to enhance the Force potential of its holder. Interestingly, if you entered the cheat code “KAIBURR” in the video game for Revenge of the Sith, the player was granted unlimited mastery of the Force.
Also of note regarding the possibility of Grogu uncovering a Force artifact is how this parallels what we know about Luke Skywalker during this era. In the comics and the novel Shadow of the Sith, Luke Skywalker and Lor San Tekka journeyed throughout the galaxy in search of artifacts and relics with ties to the Force. It’s possible that the artifact Grogu finds somehow relates to Luke and San Tekka’s search.

The planet Khar’Zunn is also interesting to speculate about. We hadn’t heard of this location in Star Wars, but a quick Google search led us to a webpage about Star Wars Roleplay: Chaos. The page features a Transmission from Mand’alor the Iron that mentions Khar Zuun as “The Black Summer,” described as “a hallowed season where our young find their names in fire and our warriors carve gory int othe stars. A time to raid, to test, and to remember who we are.” We’re not sure if this page is drawing on some piece of Legends we’re unaware of, but it’s nonetheless interesting to speculate what this Khar’Zuun location in The Mandalorian and Grogu could be.
