The big event for Star Wars fans during Super Bowl LX may not be the showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots – it’s the new look at The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Premiering during this year’s big night of football, a new teaser for The Mandalorian and Grogu subtitled “A New Journey Begins” showcases Din Djarin, Grogu, tauntauns, Hoth (??), and even Sam Elliott.
Check out the teaser below….

Let’s break down the Big Game Spot for The Mandalorian and Grogu…..
First off, Sam Elliott narrating the teaser was certainly unexpected. The legend of Western cinema known for his roles in The Big Lebowski, Tombstone, and Road House doesn’t appear on-screen in the teaser, but the fact that he narrates the new footage suggests that the iconic, deep sonorous voice and Western drawl may be coming soon to a galaxy far, far away. If Elliott does indeed appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu, this would yet another tip of the hat to the myriad of ways in which the Western genre has influenced Star Wars since its inception.
Sam Elliott’s narration in the teaser is as follows:
“Sometimes we choose our path. Other times the path chooses us. Through it all, we keep pushing forward, driven by a deeper purpose, guided by an unseen Force. The journey never gets any easier. The bond just gets harder to break. This is the way.”

Another noteworthy appearance in the new teaser are several Tauntauns! Star Wars fans will recognize this species from The Empire Strikes Back, where they appeared as the horse-like creatures Luke, Han, and other rebels journeyed around the ice path of Hoth on.
Speaking of Hoth, it really does seem like the iconic ice planet from Episode V will appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu. If it is, this will be the first time the planet has featured on screen since the beloved 1980 classic.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see if Sam Elliot and Hoth will indeed appear in The Mandalorian and Grogu until May 22 when the highly anticipated Star Wars movie hits theaters.
