When it hits theaters on May 22, The Mandalorian and Grogu will mark the first adventure for Din Djarin and his little green companion without the support of Greef Karga’s warmth, confidence, and commanding presence. But the legacy of the late Carl Weathers will live on in the upcoming Star Wars film, as evidenced by a hidden detail in today’s brand new trailer.
A blink-and-you-miss-it moment in the new trailer (which you can view below) shows a creature pushing open a door, above which is a glowing sign with Aurebesh letters. When translated to English, the words spell out “Weathers Apollo.”

‘Weathers,’ of course is a reference to the Greef Karga actor’s last name. ‘Apollo,’ meanwhile, is a reference to Weathers’ famous character from the Rocky franchise – Apollo Creed.
It remains to be seen how Greef Karga’s absence will be explained in The Mandalorian and Grogu, but it’s nice to know that Jon Favreau and company kept Carl Weathers in their thoughts while making the new movie. #BePeace
