The episode titles of Maul – Shadow Lord have been officially released ahead of the show’s April 6th premiere on Disney+. While all the titles suggest an ominous new Star Wars series is heading our way, one title in particular features a cool, deep cut revenge to Revenge of the Sith.
Back in 2004, speculation regarding the title of Star Wars: Episode III was rampant. Some of the rumored titles included Rise of the Empire and Birth of the Empire, but one title in particular gained more attention than others – The Creeping Fear. This title was even named as the film’s title on the official Star Wars website for an April Fools Day joke in 2004.
Now, 22 years later, The Creeping Fear returns as episode 8 of Maul – Shadow Lord is titled “The Creeping Fear.” This is likely nothing more than a deep cut reference and wink to hardcore Star Wars fans, but it’s nonetheless cool to see lesser known and even discarded elements of a galaxy far, far away pop up years later.
