It’s not long into the first episode of Maul – Shadow Lord before you’ll recognize the remarkable attention to detail the creative team at Lucasfilm Animation put into creating the latest Star Wars project. In addition to developments in animation and care for Maul’s character arc, this attention to detail encompasses tons of fun Easter eggs and hidden details for eagle-eyed Star Wars fans to appreciate. One of these Easter eggs is a particularly deep-cut reference to the original Star Wars: Battlefront.
A Reddit user noticed that the sound of the blaster wielded by Maul’s droid accomplice Spybot is the same as the sound of the Clone Sharpshooters’ snipers in the original Star Wars: Battlefront game. “Making Spybot’s blaster have the same sound effect as the clone sniper from the original battlefront was icing on the cake,” the user said.

Reverence for DICE’s Star Wars: Battlefront II has only intensified in recent years, but LucasArts’ original two Battlefront games aren’t given the attention and love they deserve. Fans of those original games will be delighted to learn that the folks at Lucasfilm still admire the orignal Battlefront games.
