The Mandalorian and Grogu made its world premiere at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, California on a night that welcomed Star Wars back to the big screen after seven years. First reactions from the premiere and pouring in and praising a film we described as being “quintessential Star Wars.”

The Nerds of Color described the film as “bigger, bolder, more brutal than Mando’s ever been,” stating that it “begs to be seen on the biggest screen possible.”

Grogu’s role in the film, meanwhile, is receiving resounding praise, with Christopher Gallardo saying that Grogu and all the Anzellan puppets “will tug at your heartstrings.

We and Courtney Howard referred to Favreau’s movie as “cinematic,” while BeanzGotGamez agreed with us that Rotta the Hutt stole the show. More lukewarm reception toward Rotta came from Perri Nemiroff, however, who found the character marred by difficulties bringing Hutts to life in live-action.

Other criticisms have pointed to a “second act dragging down the pacing” and an experience that, as Germain Lussier of Gizmodo described, was enjoyable but left him frustrated.
