Avatar: The Way of Water took audiences by storm with its release in late 2022, earning a 77% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 92% audience rating. Perhaps more surprisingly, the Avatar sequel has earned over $1.9 billion worldwide, defying the expectations and predictions from some who claimed that it wouldn’t get anywhere near the total gross of the first outing.
The Way of Water still has quite a way to go before it catches up to the original, but this James Cameron film has quickly risen the box office charts since its release. Here are some of the highest grossing movies ever, with Avatar: The Way or Water holding quite an impressive place.

As a new threat to the galaxy rises, Rey, a desert scavenger, and Finn, an ex-stormtrooper, must join Han Solo and Chewbacca to search for the one hope of restoring peace.
5. Avengers: Infinity War: $2.048 Billion

The Avengers and their allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
6. Spider-Man: No Way Home: $1.916 Billion

With Spider-Man’s identity now revealed, Peter asks Doctor Strange for help. When a spell goes wrong, dangerous foes from other worlds start to appear, forcing Peter to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.
7. Avatar: The Way of Water: $1.903 Billion

Jake Sully lives with his newfound family formed on the extrasolar moon Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri and the army of the Na’vi race to protect their home.
8. Jurassic World: $1.67 Billion

A new theme park, built on the original site of Jurassic Park, creates a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur, the Indominus Rex, which escapes containment and goes on a killing spree.
