The Super Bowl is a monumental occasion every year for sports fans, but for cinema fans, it also represents a day full of news, trailers, and exclusive peeks at some of the most anticipated upcoming movies and shows.
This year is set to be packed with returning heroes, some bizarre original adventures (specifically the one following a bear who accidentally snorts a large amount of cocaine), and more. As the Chiefs faced the Eagles on the field, off the field fans got a look at some of these exciting projects in the year ahead. Here is every new movie trailer and look that debuted during this year’s big game.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
One of the year’s most anticipated films is the fifth Indiana Jones outing, which is perhaps the last time that audiences will see Harrison Ford as the iconic adventurer. A brief new look was shown here, and one that included new shots of a de-aged Ford as a younger version of Indy. Mads Mikkelsen joins the franchise in a villain role and is shown during this spot.
Cocaine Bear
Cocaine Bear appears to be exactly what the title suggests, and just as unique and off the wall as it sounds. Elizabeth Banks directs a star-studded cast that includes Keri Russell, Alden Ehrenreich, Ray Liotta, Matthew Rhys, and more.
65
65 is another original film arriving this year, and is written by the creators of A Quiet Place. This film appears to be a spin on the Planet of the Apes premise, where a space expedition leads humans back to Earth, but a very different version of the planet than the one they know. Adam Driver stars in this film, and it’s set to release next month.
Creed III
Michael B. Jordan makes his directorial debut in this trilogy capper that also stars Jonathan Majors, who is quickly rising to fame with roles in awards contenders and, of course, the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Flash
The Flash is one of the biggest, most ambitious superhero films of the year, and the first official trailer was released during the big game. Michael Keaton makes his triumphant return as Batman in this movie that is set to adapt the classic comic storyline Flaspoint.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy comes to a conclusion with this summer’s Volume 3, which looks to be an emotional and triumphant finale for this iteration of the team. It’s unclear what will happen to these characters or the future of this space crew, but for director James Gunn, he’s now the co-CEO of DC Studios.
Super Mario Bros.
Mario has been a huge character in the video game world for years now, but he’s set to make the jump back to movies with this animated film. Chris Pratt stars as the iconic plumber, and Charlie Day, Anya Taylor Joy, and Jack Black round out the cast.
Scream VI
The Scream franchise is back again this year and with an incredibly unique installment, moving away from the suburban setting and into the big city. A new look for the film starring Hayden Panettiere, Jenna Ortega, Courteney Cox, Melissa Barrera, and Henry Czerny was shown here.
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
One of the most iconic table top games of all time moves to the big screen in this fantasy epic that stars Chris Pine as an unlikely hero. The footage shown during the big game highlights the action, heavy special effects, and world-building on display.
Air
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon reunite in this true story drama that audiences got the first glimpse at during the Super Bowl. This film tells the story of two executives who team together to create a new market for shoe company Nike by collaborating with Michael Jordan. As well as featuring on screen, Affleck also directed this movie.
Fast X
The Fast franchise is now close to concluding (or so they say), but based on the TV spot shown yesterday, there appears to be a lot more action, car chases, and explosions before they call it a day. Jason Momoa joins the franchise in the latest installment as a menacing looking villain.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts
The Transformers franchise has been in a state of change ever since they transitioned away from the Michael Bay era, and Rise of the Beasts promises to be a return to the classic Optimus Prime + Bumblebee world of action, alien cars, and more.
