Fast X hits theaters this week and initial reaction to the film suggests it is the biggest and most over-the-top installment yet. The Fast and Furious franchise has evolved from street racing to heist film to mammoth blockbuster with the stunts, chases, and action becoming increasingly ridiculous from installment to installment. In honor of Fast X, here’s a look back at some of the wildest and funniest moments of the Fast and Furious franchise.
“The Street Always Wins” in Furious 7

Vin Diesel’s Dom Torretto fights Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw in a brutal hand-to-hand fight in Furious 7. The wildly over-the-top and self-indulgent battle hits an apex of ridiculousness when Dom pauses the fight, delivers a hilarious one-liner, and proceeds to stomp his foot on a concrete ground, thus making the floor sink in with Statham’s character along with it.
Fast & Furious in Space in F9

It was only a matter of time before this franchise hit other-worldly new heights (literally). F9 features Tyrese Gibson’s Roman and Ludacris’ Tej, both of whom are wearing scuba suits, piloting a car into space to destroy Charlize Theron’s satellite.
The Rope Swing Scene in F9

Dom’s unrelenting defiance of physics and the franchise’s tendency for ludicrously illogical action sequences culminate in this incredible feat.
Skyscraper Jump in Furious 7

Tom Cruise climbed a skyscraper in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, but Vin Diesel and Paul Walker drove a sports car through three skyscrapers in Furious 7 (with the help of a myriad of visual effects).
The Safe Heist in Fast Five

Fast Five marked a turning point in the franchise as it leaned more heavily into the heist genre. The epic finale of the film sees Don and his crew towing a massive safe through the streets of Rio de Janeiro.
Fast X, which appears to have some of the franchise’s most unbelievable sequences yet, hits theaters May 19th.
