2023 was a strong year for movies (as you can tell from our Top 10 Movies of 2023 list), but there’s plenty to look forward to in the new year. Here are 24 new movies to look out for in 2024.
Dune: Part Two

Release Date: March 1
Synopsis: Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) continues his journey, united with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen, as he seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family, and endeavors to prevent a terrible future that only he can predict.
Love Lies Bleeding

Release Date: March 8
Synopsis: Lou is a reclusive gym manager who falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder who’s heading to Las Vegas to pursue her dream. Their love soon leads to violence as they get pulled deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family. The A24 film stars Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian and is directed by Saint Maud director Rose Glass.
Road House

Release Date: March 21
Synopsis: This Doug Liman-directed film follows An ex-UFC middleweight fighter (Jake Gyllenhaal), who ends up working at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys where things are not as they seem.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire

Release Date: March 29
Synopsis: In this sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Spengler family returns to the iconic New York City firehouse where the original Ghostbusters have taken ghost-busting to the next level. When the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must unite to protect their home and save the world from a second ice age.
Mickey 17

Release Date: March 29
Synopsis: Parasite director Bong Joon-ho directs Robert Pattinson and Mark Ruffalo in this new sci-fi film. A disposable employee is sent on a human expedition to colonize the ice world Niflheim. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.
Civil War

Release Date: April 26
Synopsis: Men and Annihilation director Alex Garland crafts this new action war film. In the near future, a team of journalists travel across the United States during a rapidly escalating civil war that has engulfed the entire nation. Struggling to survive during a near-future civil war where the government becomes a dystopian dictatorship and partisan extremist militias regularly commit political violence.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga

Release Date: May 24
Synopsis: As the world falls, young Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and into the hands of a Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. While two Tyrants war for dominance over the Citadel, Furiosa survives many trials as she plots a way back home through the Wasteland.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

Release Date: May 24
Synopsis: Nearly 300 years after the events of War for the Planet of the Apes, ape civilizations have emerged from the oasis to which Caesar led his fellow apes, while humans have regressed into a feral state. When the ape leader, Proximus Caesar, perverts the teachings of Caesar to enslave other clans in search for last traces of human technologies, Noa, a common chimpanzee, embarks on a harrowing journey alongside a young human named Mae to determine the future for apes and humans alike.
Ballerina

Release Date: June 7
Synopsis: Ana de Armas stars in this John Wick prequel film. Taking place between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Chapter 4, ballerina-assassin Rooney hunts the murderers of her family.
A Quiet Place: Day One

Release Date: June 28
Synopsis: This spin-off prequel to A Quiet Place stars Lupita Nyong’o and Joseph Quinn.
Twisters

Release Date: July 19
Synopsis: This standalone sequel of the 1996 film Twister stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos.
Deadpool 3

Release Date: July 26
Synopsis: The one and only MCU movie of 2024 sees the return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Trap

Release Date: August 2
Synopsis: M. Night Shyamalan writes and directs this new psychological thriller starring Josh Hartnett.
Borderlands

Release Date: August 9
Synopsis: Eli Roth directs this adaptation of the hit video game. Lilith, an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas. Kraven the Hunter

Synopsis: Russian immigrant Sergei Kravinoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) sets out on a mission to prove himself as the greatest hunter in the world in this new Sony / Marvel film.
Beetlejuice 2

Release Date: September 6
Synopsis: Michael Keaton and Tim Burton return for a sequel to their classic comedy horror flick.
Transformers One

Release Date: September 13
Synopsis: An animated action-adventure movie that marks the first animated feature-length Transformers film for decades.
Joker: Folie à Deux

Release Date: October 4
Synopsis: Joaquin Phoenix returns and Lady Gaga plays Harley Quinn in this sequel to the 2019 hit Joker.
Terrifier 3

Release Date: October 25
Synopsis: Art the Clown terrorizes at the holidays in this Christmas-set sequel to the brutal Terrifier 2.
Venom 3

Release Date: November 8
Synopsis: Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock in this sequel to Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
Gladiator 2

Release Date: November 22
Synopsis: After being saved by Maximus in Gladiator, Lucius (Paul Mescal), the nephew of Commodus, is now a grown man.
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim

Release Date: December 13
Synopsis: This anime fantasy film directed by Kenji Kamiyama is based on a story in appendices of The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien Set 261 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, The War of the Rohirrim tells the story of Helm Hammerhand, a legendary King of Rohan who must defend against an army of Dunlendings. He becomes the namesake for the stronghold of Helm’s Deep.
Nosferatu

Release Date: December 25
Synopsis: The Witch and The Lighthouse director Robert Eggers helms this remake of the vampire classic. Bill Skarsgård plays Count Orlok, while Lily Rose-Depp and Willem Dafoe co-star.
