‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ Lead Windie Award Nominations

By George Bate & Josh Bate

The Chicago Indie Critics have officially announced the nominees for their upcoming Windie Awards. The awards honor the previous year’s achievements in film and television, while also featuring unique categories that are not recognized by other award shows like the Academy Awards. Winners will be revealed on the evening of January 20, 2024 during a private Awards Party.

Barbie and Oppenheimer, which we chose as our #1 film of 2023, lead the Windie Awards nominations with 13 and 12 nominations each respectively. Other films earning a stellar number of nominations include Poor Things, The Holdovers, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Check out a full list of nominees below and stay tuned for more coverage of the 2024 Windie Awards here.
