SXSW 2025 Film & TV Festival Line-Up Revealed

With the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival kicking off in just a few months, the official line-up of feature films, TV projects, and XR experiences debuting March 7-14, 2025 have been revealed.

The Dutchman

A successful black businessman (played by André Holland), haunted by his crumbling marriage and identity crisis, is drawn into a psychological game of cat and mouse with a mysterious white woman (played by Kate Mara) he encounters on a New York subway. Zazie Beetz and Aldis Hodge co-star in this film from director, producer, and co-writer Andre Gaines.

We Bury the Dead

Daisy Ridley stars as a desperate woman in the aftermath of a catastrophic military experiment, who joins a “body retrieval unit” in the hope of finding her husband alive. Her search takes a chilling turn however when the corpses start showing signs of life. Australian filmmaker Zak Hilditch writes and directs this feature.

Drop

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) directs this Blumhouse horror flick about a widowed mother (played by Meghann Fahy), whose first date in years is derailed when she receives a series of anonymous drops to her phone.

The Baltimorons

Creep mastermind Mark Duplass and his brother Jay Duplass are the creative minds behind this new dark comedy about a newly sober man, who embarks on an adventure through Baltimore on Christmas Eve.

Death of a Unicorn

One of the headlining premieres of this year’s SXSW, Death of a Unicorn comes from director/screenwriter Alex Scharfman and follows a a father (played by Paul Rudd) and daughter (played by Jenna Ortega), who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat.

Descendent

The masters of time-bending thrillers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead produce this new horror film from director/screenwriter: Peter Cilella. After a traumatic brain injury triggers terrifying visions of extraterrestrials and a newfound talent for drawing, a father-to-be (played by The Walking Dead’s Ross Marquand) begins to question his reality and becomes obsessed with the need to protect his family from an unseen threat.

Forge

The Last Jedi‘s Kelly Marie Tran stars in this new film from director/screenwriter Jing Ai Ng in her feature directorial debut. In Miami, siblings Raymond and Coco Zhang’s art forgery ring flourishes when they encounter a disgraced millionaire in need of their expertise. Meanwhile, FBI Art Crimes agent Emily Lee (played by Kelly Marie Tran) moves to Miami to investigate a series of mysterious paintings. 

Holland

Mimi Cave (who directed one of the best horror films in recent years with Fresh) directs this unpredictable thriller starring Nicole Kidman as a teacher, whose life in Holland, Michigan becomes twisted when she and a colleague stumble on a secret.

The Threesome

A young man’s crush leads him into an unexpected threesome… What’s the worst that could happen? Zoey Deutch, Jonah Hauer-King, and Ruby Cruz star in this thriller from director Chad Hartigan and screenwriter Ethan Ogilby.

The Accountant 2

This sequel to the 2016 action thriller reteams director Gavin O’Connor with star Ben Affleck. Christian Wolff (played by Affleck) is brought out of hiding by Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina after someone close to them is killed by unknown assassins. To solve the murder, Wolff must recruit the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax (played by Jon Bernthal).

Hallow Road

Two parents (played by Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys) enter a race against time when they receive a distressing late-night phone call from their daughter after she caused a tragic car accident. 

The Surfer

Nicolas Cage at SXSW? How does this not make our list of Most Anticipated premieres of the festival. The film from screenwriter Thomas Martin and director Lorcan Finnegan follows a man (played by Cage), whose return to the idyllic beach of his childhood is disrupted when he is humiliated by a group of powerful locals and drawn into a conflict that pushes him to his breaking point.
