There is plenty to love in a galaxy far, far away this Valentine’s Day season with a number of exciting new Star Wars books, comics, and more. Below includes a list and description of upcoming Star Wars projects in the month of February 2025. It is important to note that all of these release dates are subject to change.
February 4 – Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader – The Essential Legends Collection
This Legends novel by James Luceno taking place in the immediate aftermath of Revenge of the Sith is republished as part of Random House Worlds’ The Essential Legends Collection this February. The publisher’s summary is as follows: “Anakin Skywalker is dead . . . and Darth Vader lives.
The news of Order 66 hasn’t spread to every corner of the galaxy. On the Outer Rim world of Murkhana, Jedi Masters Roan Shryne and Bol Chatak and Padawan Olee Starstone are leading a charge on a Separatist stronghold, unaware that the tide, red with Jedi blood, has turned suddenly against them.
When the three narrowly elude execution—and become the desperate prey in a hunt across space—it’s neither clone soldiers, nor the newly deployed stormtroopers, nor even the wrath of the power-hungry Emperor himself they must fear most. The deadliest threat rests in the hideously swift and lethal crimson lightsaber of Darth Vader—behind whose brooding mask lies a shattered heart, a poisoned soul, and a cunning, twisted mind hell-bent on vengeance.”
February 4 – The Force Unleashed II – The Essential Legends Collection
The novel adaptation of the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II is also re-released as part of The Essential Legends Collection this month. The book, which is written by Sean Williams and was originally published in 2010, focuses on fan favorite character Starkiller. The publisher’s summary is as follows: “As ruthless apprentice to Darth Vader, Starkiller was mercilessly schooled in the ways of the dark side, commanded to exterminate the last of the purged Jedi Order, and groomed for the ultimate Sith power play: assassination of the Emperor. He served without question, killed without remorse, and lost his heart without warning to beautiful Imperial fighter pilot Juno Eclipse, never suspecting that he was just a tool in the schemes of his masters—until it was too late to escape their lethal betrayal.
Juno mourned Starkiller as dead—but now he is back, purged of all memories and programmed to kill. And as fate brings Juno and Starkiller closer to reuniting, with Darth Vader determined not to lose his assassin a second time they will both have to make a stand. The prize is freedom. The punishment for failing will be eternal enslavement to the dark side of the Force.”
February 4 – Scoundrels – The Essential Legends Collection

Timothy Zahn penned this Ocean’s 11-esque heist caper back in 2013, which is now also re-released as part of The Essential Legends Collection. The publisher’s summary is as follows: “To make his biggest score, Han’s ready to take even bigger risks.
But even he can’t do this job solo.
Han Solo should be basking in his moment of glory. After all, the cocky smuggler and captain of the Millennium Falcon just played a key role in the daring raid that destroyed the Death Star and landed the first serious blow to the Empire in its war against the Rebel Alliance. But after losing the reward his heroics earned him, Han’s got nothing to celebrate. Especially since he’s deep in debt to the ruthless crime lord Jabba the Hutt. There’s a bounty on Han’s head—and if he can’t cough up the credits, he’ll surely pay with his hide. The only thing that can save him is a king’s ransom. Or maybe a gangster’s fortune? That’s what a mysterious stranger is offering in exchange for Han’s less-than-legal help with a riskier-than-usual caper. The payoff will be more than enough for Han to settle up with Jabba—and ensure he never has to haggle with the Hutts again.
All he has to do is infiltrate the ultra-fortified stronghold of a Black Sun crime syndicate underboss and crack the galaxy’s most notoriously impregnable safe. It sounds like a job for miracle workers . . . or madmen. So Han assembles a gallery of rogues who are a little of both—including his indispensable sidekick Chewbacca and the cunning Lando Calrissian. If anyone can dodge, deceive, and defeat heavily armed thugs, killer droids, and Imperial agents alike—and pull off the heist of the century—it’s Solo’s scoundrels. But will their crime really pay, or will it cost them the ultimate price?”
February 5 – Legacy of Vader 1
Charles Soule pens this highly anticipated new comic series focusing on Kylo Ren between the events of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. The publisher’s summary for the first issue of Legacy of Vader is as follows: “DARTH VADER’S SHADOW EXTENDS INTO…THE RISE OF THE FIRST ORDER!
The reign of SUPREME LEADER KYLO REN begins!
Kylo’s dark obsession leads him to MUSTAFAR!
What secrets does FORTRESS VADER hold for the young tyrant?

February 25 – Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear
Alexander Freed writes what is easily one of our favorite Star Wars novels in recent years. You can check out our NON-SPOILER REVIEW here. The publisher’s summary for the first installment of the Reign of the Empire trilogy is as follows: “Before the Rebellion, the Empire reigns, in book one of a trilogy told through the eyes of Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, and Saw Gerrera.
“In order to ensure the security and continuing stability, the Republic will be reorganized into the first Galactic Empire! For a safe and secure society!”
With one speech, and thunderous applause, Chancellor Palpatine brought the era of the Republic crashing down. In its place rose the Galactic Empire. Across the galaxy, people rejoiced and celebrated the end to war—and the promises of tomorrow. But that tomorrow was a lie. Instead the galaxy became twisted by the cruelty and fear of the Emperor’s rule.
During that terrifying first year of tyranny, Mon Mothma, Saw Gerrera, and Bail Organa face the encroaching darkness. One day, they will be three architects of the Rebel Alliance. But first, each must find purpose and direction in a changing galaxy, while harboring their own secrets, fears, and hopes for a future that may never come, unless they act.”
