Replacing the turmoiled Row K at the last minute, Sony Pictures Classics stepped in to the CinemaCon Film Showcase with a presentation of upcoming releases, including recent Sundance hits Bedford Park, The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, and Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass.
Last year marked one of the distributor’s most successful years to date, with films like Nuremberg, Eleanor the Great, and Blue Moon earned plaudits from moviegoers and critics alike.

I Swear
First up for Sony Pictures Classics was I Swear, the powerful and informative new drama that will hit U.S. theaters on April 24.
Richard Aramayo, who headlines the film as Tourettes advocate John Davidson, recently swept headlines after beating out the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Michael B. Jordan to win Best Leading Actor at the BAFTAs.
The film chronicles the life of John Davidson as he faces scrutiny for exhibiting symptoms of Tourettes before finding unexpected purpose from his life’s greatest challenge.

Unidentified
A Saudi feminist whodunnit thriller was up next for Sony Pictures Classics.
After making its premiere at TIFF 2025, Unidentified will hit theaters later this year and give the public a chance to watch a movie lauded by critics.
Starring Mila Al Zahrani, the film follows true-crime aficionado who recently lost a child of her own and who resolves to identify the body of a teenage girl found in the desert outside a small town.
Unidentified does not currently have a release date.
Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass
Another festival darling soon making its way to theaters thanks to Sony Pictures Classics is Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, a new comedy film from director and co-writer David Wain.
The film, which premiered earlier this year at Sundance 2026, follows a bride-to-be (Zoey Deutch), who, upon discovering that her fiance used his celebrity hall pass, makes an epic journey to Hollywood to even the scales and get with the man of her dreams – Jon Hamm.
Wain’s film looks hilarious and quirky, made all the better by the fact that Hamm is playing himself in the movie as the subject of Deutch’s character’s desires.
Ben Wang, Sabrina Impacciatore, and John Slattery co-star.
Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass is in theaters July 10, 2026.
Trainspotting (Re-Release)
Sony Pictures Classics will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting with a 4K restoration of the film hitting theaters this summer.

The Piano (Re-Release)
Also being restored and re-released by Sony Pictures Classics is The Piano, the Academy Winning drama from writer/director Jane Campion.

Bedford Park
Sony Pictures Classics will distribute the critically acclaimed feature directorial debut of Stephanie Ahn later this year.
The film follows Audrey (Moon Choi), a Korean American woman in her 30s,who returns to her parents’ home following her mother’s car accident. There, she encounters Eli (Son Suk-ku), the man responsible for the crash. Despite their differing backgrounds, the two bond over their shared histories of childhood trauma and the cultural weight of “han” (deep-seated resentment and sorrow), forming an unlikely romantic connection.
The footage presented at CinemaCon 2026 showed a touching, intimate romance between Audrey and Eli that belies the resentment that characterizes their relationship.
Bedford Park does not have an official release date currently.
Bitter Christmas
Pedro Almodóvar’s new movie Bitter Christmas was also showcased at CinemaCon 2026.
Making its international premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, Bitter Christmas follows a woman named Elsa (Barbara Lennie), who, after the death of her mother, immerses herself in work to cope. When migraine forces her to take a break, she decides to travel to Lanzarote in the 2004 Constitution Day’s long weekend with her friend Patricia while her boyfriend (stripper and fireman Bonifacio) stays in Madrid. To resume creative writing, she vampirises the personal miseries of her close friends. In a timeline set in 2025, the plot explores how filmmaker Raúl is writing a script which turns out to be the story of Elsa, Raúl’s alter ego. Raúl is delving into autofiction to overcome a creativity block, and is influenced by his own life, his boyfriend Santi and his assistant Mónica.
The trailer shown at CinemaCon 2026 was little on plot and heavy on vibes. Only a few lines of dialogue featured in a trailer that featured plenty of beautifully composed shots and facial expressions that can be best characterized as forlorn.
Bitter Christmas does not have an official release date currently.
The Only Living Pickpocket in New York
The highlight of the presentation came in the form of The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, a new crime thriller from writer/director Noah Segan.
The film stars John Turturro as Harry Lehman, an aging pickpocket who is forced into a desperate, high-stakes race against time through the streets of New York City.
An exclusive clip from the film was presented to the CinemaCon 2026 crowd and previewed a film that will dive into the intricacies (and, strangely enough, the art) of pickpocketing. The clip shows Turturro’s Harry witnessing a man pickpocket a woman’s purse on a subway. To provoke the thief into targeting him, Harry makes the presence of his wallet known. This act lures the thief over, who, just as he attempts to grab the wallet, finds his wrist strongly grabbed by Harry.
From there, Harry proceeds, not to diminish the thief for his criminal behavior, but to mentor him, offering tips and tricks on how to refine his craft.
The clip showcased a unique kind of thriller that will peel back the layers of pickpocketing in a way we haven’t seen before.
The Only Living Pickpocket in New York does not have an official release date currently.
Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!
Arguably the presentation’s most unusual film title goes to Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty! The festival darling, which won the directing Award Dramatic at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, begins with passionate competitors Haru (Rinko Kikuchi) and Luis (Alejandro Edda) in the Tokyo ballroom dance scene. After a tragedy causes Haru to withdraw into isolation, her friends coax her back to the studio, where she develops an infatuation with a new instructor (Alberto Guerra). As sparks fly, Haru must navigate her grief and her newfound desire.
A trailer for the film was shown at CinemaCon 2026 and suggested that a film that champions the prevailing nature of the human spirit is in store. Absurd humor in the context of a major loss, plus a whole ton of clever dance moves, seems like it’ll make for an exhilarating time at the movies.
Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty! does not currently have an official release date.
Untitled Tom McCarthy Movie
Closing out Sony Pictures Classics presentation was the announcement that an untitled film from Spotlight director Tom McCarthy will soon head into production.
The film reportedly follows 20 experts who gather at a beachside resort in Florida in 1980 for a weekend conference on climate change with a simple mandate from Congress to write a statement about what to do.
McCarthy has assembled an all-star cast for the film, which includes Paul Rudd, Tatiana Maslany, Evan Peters, Paul Giamatti, John Turturro, Jason Clarke, and Amy Ryan.
Tom McCarthy’s upcoming movie does not currently have an official release date.
