The Odyssey reactions

Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film The Odyssey made its world premiere in London today and reactions from the lucky members of the press who attended are pouring in.

Variety‘s Jazz Tangcay described Nolan’s follow-up to Oppenheimer as an “astonishing achievement” and a “triumphant, spectacular epic.”

Variety’s Clayton Davis, meanwhile, said: “Matt Damon leads with grit, while Tom Holland brings the sensitivity and heart… It’s another hit for Nolan, one his die-hards will digest for decades to come.”

Erik Davis of Fandango praised Robert Pattinson’s villainous turn in the film, stating: “He’s so conniving, manipulative and endlessly entertaining to watch. Pattinson leans all the way into the character’s villainy, and it results in one of my favorite performances of his.”

Matt Maytum of Total Film described the film as “intense and immense. An elemental epic and a feat of world building. Nolan has done it again.”

The Odyssey follows Odysseus (Matt Damon), the legendary king of Ithaca, who embarks on a long journey home after the ten-year-long Trojan War. To maintain his family home, Odysseus’ son Telemachus (Tom Holland) embarks on a journey of his own as he tries to find his father and confirm whether he is truly dead.
